Welcome back everyone!

Please note the following important information for school start-up:

Tuesday, September 5 (8:40-10:15) for Grades 1-5

  • Kindergarten students will not be in attendance on Tuesday

  • Students will return to last year's class and new students will be placed in an age appropriate class, until the transfer to new classes on Wednesday, possibly Thursday, takes place.

  • New families are to report to the office upon arrival.

  • Buses arrive at approximately 10:25 am on Tuesday

  • We encourage all new families to subscribe to our website, in order to receive important updates:

  2. On the left side of the website page, choose FORUM SUBSCRIPTIONS

  3. Click on: Send me forum posts by email

  4. Enter: Your email address

  5. Choose the emails you would like to receive

  6. Click on: Subscribe to selected forums


Wednesday, September 6 Grades 1 -5 (8:40-2:46)

  • Gradual Entry for Kindergarten students starts (3 different start times) – Please contact the school if you have not received a gradual entry plan, via mail, for your new K. Not all students in K will start at 8:40 so please check your gradual entry plan for specific details for your child.

  • K parents can pick up their child from the classroom, after the gradual entry session. If your child attends KOSC, KOSC staff will do both drop off and pick up for gradual entry times.

  • Students in Grades 1-5 will return to the classroom where they attended on Tuesday. We will transfer Grade 1-5 students, if possible, to their new classes and teacher in the a.m. If the school is required to reconfigure, we may have to delay this process.

  • All parents are asked to please keep the hallways clear during the transfer of students to their new classes, as the hallways can become very congested.

  • School Supplies can be brought to school.

  • For families who have ordered school supplies through Monk Office they will be distributed Wednesday.

  • Grade 4 & 5 students will bring home an information / sign-up sheet for our Safety Patrol, Morning Walker and Lunch Monitor Programs. Please assist with completing and encouraging a speedy return – thank you!

  • An information package, which includes verification forms and documents to sign and complete, will come home with your child on Thursday, September 7. Thank you to all families for completing the forms and returning them to your child's classroom teacher asap. All forms should be returned no later than end of day Monday, September 11.


Thursday, September 7

  • 8:40-2:46 for Grades 1-5.

  • Ks will continue with Gradual Entry.

  • Students will bring home information package from the school. Please be sure to complete all forms and return to your child's teacher as soon as possible.

Friday, September 8

  • 8:40-2:46 for Grades 1-5.

  • Ks will continue with Gradual Entry.

Monday, September 11

  • 8:40-2:46 for Grades 1-5.

  • Ks will continue with Gradual Entry.

Tuesday, September 12

  • 8:40-2:46 for Grades 1-5.

  • Ks will continue with Gradual Entry.

Wednesday, September 13

8:40-2:46 for ALL GRADES.


Special Dates to Note:

  • Thursday, September 14 - Meet the Teacher/Open House and Keating Home and School Association BBQ 6:00-7:30

  • Friday, September 22 – Photo Day (individual photos)

  • Friday, September 29 – Family Read-In from 8:40-9:15

  • Friday, September 29 – Terry Fox Run a.m. (official start time TBA)

  • Wednesday, October 4th & 5th – Early Closure for Keating Students (classes end at 1:46 to provide additonal time for parent/teacher conferences re. student progress to date). Classroom teachers will send a sign up schedule to families

  • Wednesday, October 25 - Ready Set, Learn event for 3-5 year olds. Opportunity for families to visit their neighbourhood schools from 3:15-6:00.
