HOT LUNCH PAYMENTS DUE TODAY, MAY 9TH at 3:00 pm:  All Hot Lunch orders must be paid for by TODAY, May 9th at 3:00 pm or they will be cancelled.   You may pay online using PayPal or drop off an envelope at the office, marked “hot lunch” with cash or cheque (payable to KHASA). FAMILY READ-IN:  Friday, May 11th, 8:45 am – 9:15 am  (PARKING:  A friendly reminder to parents and guardians that there is NO parking on Central Saanich Road directly across from the school. The lower parking lot (off of Central Saanich Road) can be used with access to the school using the stairs. Thank you for your cooperation!)

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR CLASS PHOTO DAY:  We are looking for some volunteers to help us on May 16th.  A couple of volunteers are needed from 8:45 am to 11:14 am and 12:20 pm to 1:45 pm.  If you are able to help out, please email keating_elem@sd63.bc.ca.

GRADE 5 KINDERGARTEN PHOTOS:  Don't forget to get your Grade 5 student's Kindergarten photos into the school office for the Grade 5 Farewell slideshow! They are needed ASAP.  Send a digital copy of a Kindergarten head-shot picture of your child directly to keating_elem@sd63.bc.ca OR send a Kindergarten head-shot picture to school with your child in a sealed envelope (mark your child's name and division on the envelope).   ALL pictures will be returned.

NATIONAL EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS WEEK (MAY 6th-12th):  KHASA wants to know, “Are you Prepared?”  KHASA is giving Keating Families the chance to enter a draw to WIN a Family Emergency Kit valued at $250!  HOW TO ENTER: A Questionnaire will be sent home with the students this week and we are asking you to fill out the Questionnaire as a family and get your student to return it to the entry box at the front office by FRIDAY, MAY 18th. *Limit one entry per family only.  Also, KHASA has partnered with TotalPrepare to give Keating Families a discount on the purchase of select Emergency Kits and supplies during the whole month of May! Some proceeds from all the sales of Emergency Kits will be given back to KHASA. CLASS PLACEMENT:  Teachers, administration, and other professionals working with Keating students take all of the information, gathered during meetings throughout the year and through our work with with the students, to help build classes that meet the needs of students in the best way possible.  Please contact Mme. Heron, if you have any questions or concerns regarding class placement.  Additionally, if your child will not be attending Keating in 2018-19, please let the office know as soon as possible.  Please see the attached PDF for detailed information regarding class placement.

FAMILIES LEAVING KEATING ELEMENTARY:  If your family will be moving away and your child(ren) will NOT be returning to Keating Elementary next year, please let the office know as soon as possible.  Thank you.

KHASA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING & EXECUTIVE VOTING:  KHASA Executive terms are coming to and end. In ordier for the PAC to continue next year and receive the Provincial Funding, the following positions need to be filled:

  • President
  •  Vice President
  •  Treasurer

Voting will take place at the KHASA AGM on May 14th. Positions can be shared if you are interested but worried about the time commitment. For position descriptions, please see the attached KHASA Constitution or visit our weibsite. KEATING CLOTHING ORDERS:  Show your school spirit! The École Keating School Cougars Logo T-shirts are now available for sale. Check it out under the KHASA web page under Hot Lunch Schedule & Ordering.  Online ordering is open and orders must be placed before Friday, May 18th at midnight. Parents that prefer not to pay online can place an electronic order and leave a cheque (made out to KHASA) or the money (exact change only please) at the office before Friday, May 18th at 3:30 pm.

Prices for each T-Shirt or Hoodie include tax and are as follows:

  • Short Sleeve T-Shirt: $10
  • Long Sleeve T-Shirt: $15
  • Kangaroo-Style Hoodie: $30
  • Zip-Up Hoodie (pockets in front): $35

Sizes available Youth: XS to XL, and Adult: S to XXL

The T-Shirts and Hoodies are school colour ROYAL BLUE with the logo is printed in white on the upper left side of the front.  The hoodies are the same width as the t-shirts but are shorter. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Seeking New Volunteers for CPF - Saanich 2018/19:

We have had a very exciting year and supported many innovative programs at our local schools. Our CPF - Saanich, website has been down but our Facebook page is alive and well with lots of great links, updates and event information. We also produced a few fact filled newsletters (if you missed them, drop us a line and we can resend).

Sadly some of our fabulous CPF volunteers are moving on, or reducing their volunteer time. As a result, we are urgently seeking new people (no need to speak French) to step up and join us to continue our essential work to aid, encourage and promote French (core and immersion) learning in our schools. We hope you will consider to join us. Many roles are shared by two people. Do consider if you can team up with someone OR pass to any friend that you feel might have some interest to get involved.

Make plans to attend our AGM on May10th at 6.30 pm Ecole Deep Cove.

Key roles available:

  • - Treasurer
  • - Fundraiser
  • - School reps for : Deep Cove, Keating and Stelly's
  • - Member at Large
  • Other ad hoc volunteer roles throughout the year: Support at different school events.

We are also seeking someone who might have good pc skills that could assist us place all our key files online. No need to attend any meetings, just work at your own speed at home to upload files to Google docs to ensure easier succession references.  We look forward to hearing from you.
