BIG IDEA: Machines are devices that transfer force and energy.

- properties of simple machines (levers, wedge, inclined plane, wheel and axle, pulley, and screw) and their force effects (force effects include changing direction and multiplying force)

- combinations of simple machines form complex machines 

- the lever is the basis of nearly every aspect of the musculo-skeletal system
