Principal's Message on Reopening

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As you were made aware via the district letter about schools reopening today, an agreement was reached between the employer and local support staff workers.

Some items to note for the remainder of the fall term:

  • Schools and buses have returned to their normal schedules.

  • This week’s scheduled early dismissal (Thursday) and pro-d day (Friday) have been postponed until later in the year. This means that this week and the remainder of the term until the winter break will be 8:40-2:48, Monday to Friday.  The early dismissal date will now be February 26th and the date for the rescheduled pro-d day will be decided by the School Board.

  • Report cards will go out later than normal to allow as much time as possible this term for instruction and assessment. Term 1 reports will go home between December 16th and 19th.

  • Events scheduled for the remainder of the term will go forward as planned due to their curricular value and the learning opportunities they provide (field trips, guest presenters, etc...) unless it is determined by staff that rescheduling is preferable and possible.

  • Photo retakes have tentatively been scheduled for the afternoon of Monday, November 25th. Confirmation to follow via the website

  • If your child has brought home a swim club form, please complete and return it tomorrow (Tuesday the 19th). 3 practices have been missed so cheques should be made out for $13.50 less than stated on the form. If you already provided a cheque for the full amount, the teachers leading the program will be in contact with you about returning your cheque and how/when to provide a new one for the reduced amount. Practices will begin next week.

Please see the letter posted to the school’s website from Superintendent Eberwein and Board Vice-Chair McMurphy for more information from the district about reopening.

We are thrilled to be back working and learning with kids, and moving forward together as a community.

Sincerely,
Steve MacGregor
Principal
