A great end to our week, with a successful Terry Fox event. A massive thank you to the kids and greater community who donated over $1400 to the Terry Fox Foundation. Further thanks to Ms. Lee's class who made speeches to the other classes this past week, and set up the course for today's runs. It was wonderful to see the kids' determination and smiles as they ran and cheered one another on today.
A few reminders as we head into the last week of September:
- Monday is a non-instructional day. Students will not be in attendance as the district's staff will be engaged in professional development on the subject of Indigenous Education.
- Wednesday the 29th is Orange Shirt Day.
- Thursday the 30th is a stat holiday for the Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Schools will be closed.
- You will be seeing a slideshow or video from your child(ren)'s classroom teacher(s) as a form of welcome and introduction in lieu of us being able to have everyone in the building for a Know Your School Night. Some teachers will likely have sent this already, but if not you should be seeing something by October 8th. You can, of course, always reach out to teachers for meetings or informal chats.
Finally, a reminder that the curb near the sidewalk at the front of the school is a no-parking zone. We need this to be respected especially at the morning dropoff time as traffic quickly backs up into the driveway and even into the road creating an unsafe situation for children walking to school. At drop off time, please remain in your cars if you are dropping off in front of the school. If you prefer to get out of the car with your child, please consider parking across the road on Central Saanich Road, where there is a wide shoulder, lots of available parking, and a crossing guard to help you across the street.
Thanks to all for a wonderful week. Have a safe weekend, and we'll see everyone on Tuesday.
