French Term 3
Writing: Students will make good use of skills acquired in the first two terms to now focus on the revision/editing process to produce well structured and polished written work. Students will be encouraged to work to expanding their ideas in writing by making good use of nouns and adjectives to create diverse texts. Free Writes will now be a bi-weekly paragraphs to maintain this important structured writing skill.
Grammar: In line with the English Language Arts programme, we will be exploring English versus French sounds through games and word-making activities. Our focus for this term will be identifying the infinitive form of verbs, recognizing the “family” of conjugations and practising present tense conjugations of the three main groups of verbs. Students will continue and are expected to build on notions previously learned to further their written expression. The the verbs (from all three groups) that we will be working on are:
- er verbs (manger, entrer)
- ir verbs (finir, partir)
- re verbs (descendre, vendre)
- Aller
- Faire
- Devoir
- Vouloir
- Pouvoir
Reading: This term we will continue to focus on building reading comprehension. In small groups, students will read with peers of similar level and practise reading strategies through breaking down texts to build understanding.
Oral: Oral language skills continue to be reinforced through interactions during Free Time, role play, and in class instruction.
